The Green Room Theatre Company will be performing the historical play, The Importance of Being Ernest, starting October 21.
The play is on October 21st through October 24th in the Black Box Theater in the evenings. It is a classical comedy that has a lot of hard work put into it.
“I just chose The Importance of Being Earnest because we haven’t done any classical theatre in the last couple of years. The last piece we did was Much Ado About Nothing, and that was long before any of the students that are here now were here, so we wanted to give them the opportunity to do a classic piece. It’s just really funny,” said the director Clare McConville.
The show was chosen due to its importance to the director
“I’m actually in grad school program right now for theatre directing and it’s one of the shows that we worked with last summer. I just really enjoyed it,” McConville said.
Students are also given the opportunity to bring a classical comedy to life. They are quite excited to put the show on. Furthermore, students are loving the fact that the play portrays a classic historical show.
“I have personally never done anything like this. It’s really cool to do something different. I think it’s an interesting challenge,” said the character of Jack Worthing, Nick Grzesik
Moreover, the cast is putting in hard work to the play to make the play as memorable and fun as they are making it at rehearsals.
“There is no bad thing about the play. It’s fun all around. I guess the rehearsals can get tiring, but you kind of deal with them,” Grzesik said.
This fall play, The Importance of Being Earnest, seems like an interesting challenge to the entire cast. They are enjoying the first classical comedy in their theater experience of high school.
“I think it is going to be great. We’re going to rent costumes, so the costumes are going to be very elaborate and very time period, which is always so much fun. I just think everyone should come and see it. It will be really really great show,” McConville said
