Fortnite is a battle royale where players compete against each other to get a Victory Royale.
According to fortune.com, “Fortnite just had its biggest day ever, 5.5 years after it launched, with 44.7 million players in one day.” Players increased when the new season was released because of the old map coming back.

Epic Games announced the wild return of the original Fortnite map remembered by old players as “Chapter 1.” For a half a decade, the video game Fortnite stood tall. It was the number one video game in 2017.

For many, the return of the original map was a nostalgic journey to the roots of Fortnite, where it all began. The map, featuring locations like Tilted Towers, Retail Row, and the infamous Loot Lake, carries a wave of nostalgia for those who have been playing since the early days of the game.

“I was very excited for the old map to come back. When I came back from Mexico, that was the first thing I wanted to do, turn on my PS4 and play,” said senior Jose Alcala.

Fortnite has had many skins in the game and has introduced many collaborations throughout the years such as those with Khaby Lame, Adonis Creed, and John Cena.

“Elite Agent is probably my favorite go-to skin to use. I feel like I play better with it when I have it on,” Alcala said.

Many have already made plans to go back to their preferred landing spots, experience the excitement of the early Fortnite days, and land in well-known areas.

“My favorite spot to land at is probably Tilted Towers in the basketball court because there’s enough loot for me and a bunch of people land there, so it’s fun,” said senior Anthony Ippolito.

People have been playing since the game came out, and many have been coming back for this new season.

“I started playing in sixth grade when my friend introduced it to me and have been playing ever since,” Ippolito said.

Epic Games is releasing a new season every week until it gets to season X, and that’s when the season will end on December 2. The classic weapons came back like the assault rifle, pump shotgun, and hunting rifle, as well as returning vehicles like the shopping cart and the quad crasher.

”I think it’s cool that they are having a new season every week with new items. It really makes me feel like I’m standing on business when I play,” said senior from Lakes High School Andrew Rodriguez.

Fortnite has had a slew of thrilling game modes that gives the players fresh experiences.

“My favorite game mode that’s ever come out has got to be either one shot or sniper shootout. I feel like it should be a permanent game mode because it’s fun and a lot of people played it,” Rodriguez said.
