The second annual 5K run was held on Thursday, November 2, at Grayslake North High School.

A few sports teams like the boys lacrosse team and boys cross country with their coaches all ran the 5K run. One of the people who ran the 5K was the biology teacher and the girls long distance coach, Angeliki Michelis.

“I have always been a long distance runner and being the new long distance coach for the girls team I thought why not… I haven’t ran in a while, and I’m a little out of shape. But I think I can whip out three miles,” Michelis said.

The runners must pay a fee to run, and the money goes toward the school’s Holiday Help Program.

“The Holiday Help Program takes kids from our own school that are in low income, and we buy gifts and food for them for the holidays. All of this money will essentially will be going to your classmates,” said program sponsor Evie Amelio.
