Yesterday, SAGA met with their Grayslake Central counterpart SAGE (Sexuality and Gender Equality) for the first time to discuss culture between both schools, possible collaborative projects, and ideas for fundraisers. “I think the meeting went really well. I liked being able to meet different people and see how another similar club interacts and what they do,” said senior Jade Walker.

Members of SAGE traveled through their ram van to meet with students in SAGA to help understand what they could do in their club, and the possibility of both groups working together to donate to charity or help unify the high schools and surrounding area.

“[Meeting with other clubs] is important because it allows the sharing of ideas among the cross culture of the Grayslake community,” said SAGE president Spencer Boos.

Overall, both groups were excited about the progress they had made in meeting and proposed options for future events with SAGA and SAGE, or other groups between both schools. The members felt as if they had gained a lot from this meeting.

“It is always good to hear different perspectives and different ideas and it’s interesting to see the similarities and differences between Grayslake Central and Grayslake North, and I think both groups can learn a lot from the other in terms of environment and what the groups should accomplish going forward,” said senior Emma Ziegler.

The participants encouraged more unity in the district, and felt that they had made a successful first step to a better district.
