Olympian Jenny Spangler visits North

It takes a lot to run a marathon. Hours of training, a lot of dedication, and willingness to learn. Jenny Spangler, a former olympian, knows this well, and came to teach the track team that when she visited on April 28.
Spangler came in to talk about her story with track. She showed them her Olympic trials marathon video and told them of one great achievement when she placed first in the Grandma’s marathon with a time of 2:33:51. At the time, this was the world age group record for females 19 and under.
The students sat attentively as Spangler showed them all what she had done, and told them important advice about track, such as making sure you never get distracted.
The advice Spangler gave was a morale booster and could be applied to any activity. She taught students that they should never be someone who says “What if?”. Her words were powerful and the conclusion could be helpful to anyone.
“The road to success is always under construction,” said Spangler.
The students got to see a champion runner and can all learn from her. The opportunity to met an olympian is huge for any athlete.

Her inspirational speech was met with loud applause followed by a question and answer section. Spangler left after making her impression on the young athletes.
