Swimmers set personal records at Sectionals

Senior Amelia Attwood and junior Alissa Wade compete on swimming teams outside of school.
They both swim in the fall and winter leading up to their meets every other weekend. They both represent Grayslake North when competing in their Conference and Sectional meets.
“The fall and winter is actually the heart of our season. We compete in meets every other weekend.
We represent North at the Sectional meet of the year, but due to the conference change, our conference was diminished,” Attwood said.
Sectionals happened on November 12, and swimmer Alissa Wade believes she did her best.
“Amelia and I got our best times in all the events we competed in,” Wade said.
Alissa and Amelia both compete in events such as freestyle and backstroke.
“At Sectionals, I competed in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke,” Wade said.
Both girls train vigorously during the week prepping for their meets.
“In general, we train about five to six days a week to get ready for our upcoming meets,” Attwood said.
Grayslake North does not have a formal swim team, pushing the athletes toward swimming with clubs, but during Conference and Sectional events, they both represent Grayslake North.
