To better the students’ education, District 127 has added new classes creating more opportunities.
Advanced Mathematical Decision Making (AMDM), and AP Computer Science are both new classes offered this year. AMDM is taught by Chris Hoguet and Kyle Fosco, and AP Computer Science is taught by Anthony DeStephano.
Teachers want to make sure their students are proud of what they are doing and turning in. All three teachers have set goals, and it’s to make sure their students strive in their classes.
“I want my students to develop good habits and problem solving in and out of class, and make sure our students are smiling during this year and to advance their mathematical decision making,” Hoguet said.
Hoguet, Fosco, and DeStephano hope their students become someone who one wants to hire. DeStephano wants his students to do well on the AP test. Although teaching can always be difficult, these three have amazing ideas on how to teach the new classes.
“With our class, we are more facilitators of learning,” Hoguet said.
In math classes, teachers are always looking for students to participate and spread their ideas.
“We aren’t the main voices of the class in AMDM. We want our students to lead on the discussions,” Fosco said.
When leading discussions, it’s always good to have a positive attitude and making sure that everyone is respectful to other classmates. Classmates are encouraged to support and bounce ideas off of each other.
“Open mindedness and willing to try every day are my expectations of my students,” Hoguet said.
Anyone could be involved in this class. The teachers want to make sure their students are enjoying this school year.
“I want them to be able to figure out trial and error with direct instruction and for my students to do well on the AP test,” DeStephano said.
The main goal is to have students striving for success and being proud of what they have accomplished. These teachers want to help achieve this goal for students and enjoy the school year.
