Tyler Elias-Senior Goodbye

As I write my last article for the school newspaper the period it is due, I finally think I figured out what got me through high school: procrastination, waiting until the latest I possibly could to finish a project, even a senior goodbye. If I was successful in turning in my assignment, I did not wait long enough and I tried again the next time. Do I recommend this strategy? Of course not, but it sure did make things more interesting for me.
There are things I will definitely miss next year while I am at the University of Missouri. One is not being in the summer school class I was forced to take. Before I was a B average high school student, I was a third grade spelling bee runner up… so I don’t know where I fell off.
They say high school is an educational trial, and once you finish, you pay $40,000 a year for the full version. If that was the case, I would have ended the trial three years ago.
Jokes aside, I definitely will miss a handful of experiences I had in high school.
I would like to say goodbye to basketball. Being a part of varsity basketball was one of the best experiences of my high school years. I will remember the people I met through the sport I have always loved and the experiences forever. Basketball taught me to accept whatever role is given to you in life and making the most of it. As the second string hype man, my role was to try dunking during warm ups of every game, but I would not have wanted it any other way.
For baseball, there are things I enjoyed, mainly only the games I pitched. No matter what I say though, baseball taught me a lot of things like discipline and how bad I look in baseball pants.
In general, I would like to say goodbye to high school. For me, high school consisted of setting four alarms so I wouldnt be late, late nights doing papers an hour before they are due, and awkward interactions with my peers… so really next year will be no different.
