There is so much I am thankful for as this chapter of my life comes to a close. I’m thankful for the friends I’ve made, the things I’ve learned, and the opportunities I’ve had. I feel just as any other senior feels. I can’t wait to leave these yellow brick walls behind and move on to bigger and better things. But at the same time, these yellow bricks have not only taunted me for the past four years, they have taken part in shaping me to be the person I am today. I found out about myself throughout high school, but most of all, I’ve discovered my passions here. Choir and journalism have played major roles in my life, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Junior year is where it all began.

I started off as a staff reporter just getting to learn the ropes. I liked being “on the newspaper,” but little did I know, journalism would soon have a bigger part in my life. Sectionals in April of last year changed everything. From winning first place, to walking with the drumline, to driving in the minibus for over five hours, to having milkshakes at midnight, and still competing at State with the friends who stayed up past three am with you. And all of this happened over the course of one week! So many memories have been made the past couple of years, and so many stories have been written. I wouldn’t have been able to experience all of this without Mrs. Smith’s help. Thank you, Mrs. Smith, for always being patient with me and supporting me through anything. You do so much for us, and the newspaper would not be the same without you. I attribute my love for journalism to you. Your passion has inspired me and has pushed me to write and speak to the best of my ability. To Becca and Hannah, thank you for being great role models with your editing expertise. You girls always know how to keep us in check. To Ashley and Connor, words cannot describe how thankful I am for your help, your friendship, and your never ending laughter. You two never fail to make my day, and without you..I might be able to get more work done…so thank you! To Journalism 1, thank you for always working to keep us editors on our feet. The newspaper would not be possible without you, and I hope you will continue to make it better over the next few years. To my journalism crew in it’s entirety, this is not goodbye, it’s just see you later.

Journalism and news writing has inspired me because every moment in history was at one time breaking news. Just like how every moment in our lives was once breaking news, I know for a fact we will all make our own headlining
