The non-fiction book “I’m a good dog: Pit bulls, America’s Most Beautiful (and misunderstood) Pet” written by Ken Foster shows the beauty of the pit bull breed through experiences of his and those he has learned from. “I’m a good dog: Pit bulls, America’s Most Beautiful (and misunderstood) Pet” is a heart-touching book that tugs at the reader’s heart by guiding them through the ups and downs of pit bull history, as well as personal experiences from devoted pit bull owners. 

Ken Foster was just a normal person, until one day he met a pit bull. Although it is just a breed, a short encounter with one took his heart forever. Ken started adopting Pit Bulls and used them as the main source for his books. He works to break the negative stereotypes that pit bulls are constantly surrounded by so these overlooked canines can develop a better reputation. 

This book talks about the way pit bulls developed from being a family dog to being looked at as a scary fight dog. Foster brings up the stories of Helen Keller to Dr. Suess and the friendship developed between them and their pit bulls. He also talks about various organizations that have continued to help pit bulls find their forever homes and allow them to be shown in a brighter light.
