Yearbook sponsor Ashley Kopecky shows that the yearbooks have been delivered to the school. They will be distributed outside of the school on Thursday and Friday afternoon.

The yearbooks will be distributed in a contact-free way on Thursday, May 14 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. and then again on Friday, May 15 from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. in front of GNHS outside of B162.

Students or parents may drive up, and there will be a number to text when students arrive. Books will be handed out to people as they approach in their cars. There are also 125 extra books. If someone wants to purchase an extra book, they are on sale in the bookstore. The books can then be picked up at this distribution by showing a receipt of payment.

While the yearbook for this year is done; things for the spring supplement are not: spring sports and senior stories. The spring supplements are coming out in the summer like normal. The yearbook staff is waiting to do the supplement until they know what is happening to graduation.

“Graduation is a staple in the supplement, so whenever that happens, we will send it to print,” said Ashley Kopecky, the adviser of the yearbook.

The yearbook staff tried to come up with a fun way to have distribution while keeping the social distancing order in place.

“Every year, yearbook distribution is a fun and exciting time for students, so we would still like to celebrate that in some way,” Kopecky said.

This year in the spring supplement along with graduation, spring sports, and senior stories, there will be a section on the coronavirus.

“The yearbook is a historical book that is responsible for highlighting the major events of the year. Although this is not a positive event, we are still responsible for covering it and how it has impacted each and every student,” Kopecky said.

“In the spring supplement, we are talking to the athletes that sports have been postponed and seeing what they are doing during this time. We are also seeing what they are missing (about their sport) and are not missing,” said Nick Broege, a senior student in the yearbook staff.

It is a tricky time for everyone, so the yearbook staff is working hard to make things special for everyone. For covering sports, they plan on showing how students are staying fit or involved with playing their sport at home. Senior stories will feature their best memories from past years in that sport.
