Player Profile: Sydney Swiercz

Sydney Swiercz is a senior at Grayslake North who competed in the IHSA Sectionals on February 15. Even though she didn’t move onto State, she still has a passion for the sport and will continue to compete and love it.

“Bowling makes me happy because I love the game and the competition, especially when I compete in tournaments,” Swiercz said. “Competing gives me a rush, and the excitement in the room makes it so real that it gives me more of a competitive feeling.”

With all her practice, Swiercz has been able to make great achievements such as Junior Gold, which is a national championship held in Las Vegas. She was also offered a scholarship for bowling, which she says she will continue into college.

“I was offered a scholarship to bowl at Lincoln College where I will work on a sports management degree, and hopefully in the future help coach a bowling team.”

Swiercz has achieved a lot by working hard and never giving up. She overcame her struggles and has gotten to become a better athlete through all of it. Continuing into college, Swiercz will continue learning and progressing and is very aware of the fact that she will always be able to be better.
