“Five Feet Apart” is a romance movie with Will Newman played by Cole Sprouse and Stella Grant played by Haley Lu Richardson. They both are suffering from cystic fibrosis and cannot get within six feet of each other. Will has cystic fibrosis, but he also has B. Cepacia that makes it impossible for him to get a lung transplant.
He then transferred to Stella’s hospital for a trial treatment to see if it can get rid of his B. cepacia. Will’s snarky attitude slowly intrigued Stella, even though at first she would have gladly had nothing to do with this newfound stranger.
Stella slowly falls in love with Will, realizing that she can’t be without him. Stella realizes that she’s sick of cystic fibrosis taking everything from her. Stella says “human touch, we need that touch from the one we love almost as much as we need air to breathe. I never understood that until I couldn’t have it.” From everything that cystic fibrosis has taken from her, she takes one thing back: twelve inches, one foot.
Now due to certain events, Stella and Will go to see the lights. They leave the hospital and go on a walk, holding hands, making snow angels, and ice skating on a frozen pond. To save Stella’s life, Will has to give her mouth to mouth, their first and only kiss.
If there is not a second movie to follow this one up, that would be terrible because I need to know that’s not the end of their story.
I don’t normally cry at movies, but for almost the entire movie I had tears in my eyes and tears running down my face. They had heartfelt performances, and it truly felt real.
