This year’s season of boys golf has come to a close, and now they have time to reflect on the season and how it went. 

For boys golf, this season has been said to have been a great year for improvement and had a lot of wins. 

“We improved our overall win total and tie for most conference wins in school history. We finished second at the conference tournament and third in the conference overall. We improved in just about every category from the year before, and we had higher finishes in the tournaments we entered,” said head boys golf coach Tim Hough. 

The season started on August 12 and ended on September 30. In that time, the team would practice at Renwood Golf Course or the Grayslake Golf Course. 

“I thought it went pretty well because everyone improved throughout the summer, and my team just had good chemistry,” said junior Oscar Calhoun. 

There are some new teammates that started their first season of golf, and they learned how to practice and better their skills for seasons to come. 

“I did win a match, but I also lost one. I could have gotten a better score’ a lower score, but the biggest thing this year was weather because some of my matches got canceled,” said freshman Gus Calhoun. 

Now that they know what went good and bad about this season, the coach can start preparing for next year and ways to improve the team. 

“I would love to win the NLCC, and I think we will have the ability to do that in the coming years. We can also improve on the overall number of wins, and I would love to see my players improve their individual averages by 5 strokes,” Hough said.
