The boys lacrosse team is off to a great start with an 12-3 record. Head coach Brad Fish is ready for the new season and the competition the conference has to offer. Coach Fish is happy about some new faces on the varsity level and some returning players improving from last year.
“Some good young faces and a few older players, freshmen Luke Schlabowske and Travis Standerski, have been a nice surprise. Juniors JJ Johnson and George DeBates have been fantastic. I love seeing the competition and seeing the growth from the start to finish,” Fish said.
Senior Mikey Brown, a midfielder for the team, has been playing lacrosse for eight years. Brown had one of the most clutch moments this year against Lakes by scoring the game winning goal.
“My favorite moment from this year so far was scoring the game winner vs Lakes. We shouldn’t have been in the position we were in, but I was happy we got it done and won the game,” Brown said.
Brown is planning on attending Transylvania University along with his brother Ethan Patton, who plays attack for the team. Seniors Brown and Patton been playing sports together since fifth grade including football and lacrosse. Both have always had a competitive mindset and always pushed each other to get better.
“It feels good to know that I got someone with me at school that’s got my back and will help me out if I need it. We both can be competitive, so that helps us push each other to get better,” Brown said.
Senior Michael Trabulsy, a midfielder for the team, is in his 11th year playing lacrosse. One of Trabulsy goals for this year is to repeat as Sectional champs.
“I want to win Sectionals again. We were Sectional champs last year when we beat Warren, and I want us to repeat and compete for State.” Trabulsy said.
