Over spring break, the AP European History class took a trip to Europe and visited the beautiful city of Paris. They learned and experienced many different things throughout the whole trip.
“The trip was outstanding! We were really impressed with how adventurous the students were in Paris and the amount they accomplished in a short period of time. I think if you asked the students what their favorite part of the trip would be, they would say Switzerland. Every stop seemed to be more and more breathtaking, and it offers a nice contrast from the business of Paris,” said history teacher Todd Grunloh.
While in Paris, the students and teachers did many activities and explored as much as they could for the nine days they were there.
“We crammed in as much as possible in the nine days. We went to Paris and saw the Arc de Triomphe, saw the Eiffel Tower during the day and at night. We took a day trip to Versailles, and we got a bunch of free time to explore Paris by ourselves and saw a ton of other cool things. We then traveled to Switzerland by a train. And we drove to the little town we’re staying at in the Alps, and along the way making short stops at cool destinations. We also went up in a cable car to the top of a mountain, and looking down at the rest of Lucerne, the town we were exploring. The last couple days we spent going to Munich, where we got a sightseeing tour of the town as well as a bunch of free time to explore,” said sophomore Nicole Lacke.
Some students took advantage of this opportunity to check out the many things in Europe.
“I decided to go because I thought it was an awesome opportunity to travel and experience a new culture and explore many sights in Europe,” said junior Grace Kendzior.
This trip did not only leave students with lots of fun memories and pictures, but it also taught them how different the culture is there.
“I think the greatest parts of Europe trip are that students gain a greater understanding and appreciation for outside cultures. We also hope that it creates a desire to become a world traveler and be more willing to explore foreign countries,” Grunloh said.
