This past weekend the girls bowling team took second place overall at Regionals. Individually, Gaby Silva placed third while Taylor Bell took fourth place. Sectionals will be held on Sat February 10.

Coach Laura Bertermann, who has coached bowling for 24 years, looks back over the teams overall and recent accomplishment.

“(Girls bowling) went undefeated in conference and won the conference title last year. We have placed in the top five in most of our weekend tournaments,” Bertermann said.

Senior Gaby Silva, who has been bowling since the age of eight also looks back at what the team has done this year.

“The team has gotten many awards in the past and this year.  Just this year, we have placed second at our home tournament, second place at the Vernon Hills tournament, sixth place at the Palatine invite, eighth place at the Fenton tournament and more awards to come,” Silva said.

The girls have befriended each other and have grown to be closer through the sport, carrying the friendships to the allies.

“The team is always fun to be around, we’re all super quirky and don’t care how weird we all are,” said junior Lexi Sears.

With all the awards that the team has accomplished, the girls have become very proud of each other because of the dedication that the sport requires.

“I am so proud of the team and their work ethic. We have overcome changes in line-ups, illness and overall adjustments with positive outcomes. They are really great kids,” Bertermann said.
