Results came out for the Fall 2017 Stock Market Game, and three of North’s students ended in third place of the nearly 700 teams involved.

Jackson Bielinski, Tyrell To and Rahul Becerra are all in Personal Finance, an elective available for grades 9-12. The class started the 2017 Stock Market Game back in September. Students were given $100,000 each, and worked in teams to invest in stocks, bonds, and mutual funds, all while competing at the school, region, and state level.

District 127 business educators having been teaching investing with the Stock Market Game over the last 20 years,” said Tony Bussone, Personal Finance teacher at North.

The three students increased their portfolio value to $126,031.41 in the matter of a few months. It was enough to push them close to the front in the statewide race.

“It felt good to win. I felt more confident afterwards and I was able to learn a lot from it,” said Tyrell To, one of the three seniors that took third.

GNHS is proud to take 3rd of 696 teams in such a competitive arena,” Bussone said.
