French 3 Honors takes a trip to the Alliance Francaise

French 3 Honors took a field trip to the Alliance Francaise de Chicago on November 10 and 16. The Alliance Francaise is a French cultural learning center dedicated to teaching the French language and culture, as well as establishing friendship between Americans and French speaking people.

“I think (The Alliance Francaise) is an amazing place; it really makes learning French culture interesting,” said junior Zoe Nelson.

The students were shown a screening of the French movie “Comme un chef,” and were also taught how to make various French dishes, such as Croque-Monsieur, a sandwich served hot with ham and cheese, and Madeleines, small cookies that originated in Northeastern France.

“I like cooking the French cuisine. It was fun, and it was pretty easy too,” said junior Sean Vass.

As well as cooking lessons and movie screenings, the Alliance Francaise offers French language lessons.

“Learning with my friends was fun, especially when you’re learning about something you’re so passionate about,” Nelson said.
