Seniors compete in Mr. GNHS

National Honor Society hosted Mr. GNHS as seniors Ryan McCue, Nick Ang, Marshal Diep, Kyle Peterson, and Tristan Linderholm participated and raised money for charities of their choice on Nov. 3. Ryan McCue was crowned first place in the competition; Kyle Peterson placed second; Marshal Diep was third; Nick Ang was fourth, and Tristan Linderholm was fifth place.

“The competition felt more like a big comedy skit rather that trying to beat each other. I had fun helping others make their acts better to make the overall show go well. I believe the competition went better than expected. It went really well, and we all did great. I’m really glad I got to spend time with this group of guys during my last year of high school,” said winner Ryan McCue.

The seniors performed multiple acts to favor the judges including a group dance along to “Jingle Bells,” lip syncing, fishbowl questions, discussing their charities, and the talent show.

“I thought that I wasn’t going to be funny and would embarrass myself. I felt like I knew what I was doing, but didn’t know what the turnout would be. I spent a lot of time and effort preparing, and it definitely made a dent in my schedule, but in the end, it was totally worth it,” said senior Marshal Diep.

Overall, the boys enjoyed being a part of the show.

“We’re just five outgoing, fun students showing off our skills. I was worried that nobody would come, but we had a wonderful turnout. I’m so happy I was given the opportunity to entertain people for two hours. Even though I didn’t win, the charity did get some money, and that was good enough for me. For next year, the more people who come, the more money we can send out to help those in need,” said senior Tristan Linderholm.
