Girls golf achieves season goals

Girls golf ends their season with varsity finishing with second in conference and JV winning their conference.
As an individual sport, it was very important to the girls and the coaches to set goals for themselves. The coaches as well as the teammates helped enforce their goals during practice and matches.

“The best part of being a part of the team was that the people were so inviting and fun, and the coaches were very supportive and encouraging,” said junior Bethany Cardenas.

Even though golf is an individual sport, the girls learned how to build a bond with their teammates in order to feel comfort.

“My goal was to fix my swings by the end of the season,” said senior Kirsten Dean.
Assistant coach Tom New said that their goals for golf were fairly simple and had several ways on achieving them.

“From videotaping, to playing alongside, to drills, to talking about the mental game of golf, no matter a golfer’s goal or hurdle, we will find a number of different ways to help them improve,” said coach Tom New.

Although no one went to Sectionals, they won three more duals than last season.

“Twice this season we had one stroke losses in team duals. Both times we bounced back and played great in the following duals,” said head coach Scott Ewen.
