The sports entertainment marketing class and FBLA went to the Milwaukee Bucks game against the Charlotte Hornets at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee on Monday, Oct. 23.

Tony Bussone teaches Sports Entertainment Marketing and runs FBLA.

“The class prepares students who will study business or marketing in college and opens students eyes’ to the world of marketing, promotion, sales, and advertising,” said Tony Bussone.

The students feel that going to watch the intensely close game was not only a fun experience but also an experience where they learned about how sports teams like the Bucks promote their games.

“I went on this field trip because I enjoy basketball, and sports in general, and wanted to learn about the marketing tactics that professionals use,” said senior Thomas Hill.

The Milwaukee Bucks scored the last nine points beating the Charlotte Hornets with a final of 103-94.

After the first quarter, the Bucks were down by seven points. Ending up with a total of 85 points during the last three quarters and the Hornets only scoring 69 in the last three quarters, the Bucks were able to take the victory over the Hornets by the end of the night.

“I had a good time learning how the Bucks promote their team and how the stadium was designed,” said junior Noah Adams.

After arriving, shortly before the start of the game, the students were told that there will be a new stadium being built down the road next year to replace the Bradley Center.

“We found out that in order to buy season tickets next year at the new stadium, they have to buy season tickets this year. They also charge a premium for suite tickets, but they always sell them out and make most of their money from them. Other than that, it was more of a fun time than anything,” Hill said.

Besides the news of a brand new stadium in the process, they were showed around inside certain areas of the BMO Stadium.

“They gave us a tour of the stadium including entrance into sky boxes and other ‘behind the scenes’ areas. We also got to go down to the floor and watch the teams warm up, which is always cool. It was fun but also educational,” Bussone said.
