Girls cross country hopes for success

The girls cross country team pushes each other to make this fall a winning season while having fun along the way.

“I feel like our team is already like a family. They are always there to support each other and help each other when they need it. We always are encouraging toward each other,” said junior Dasmary Mendoza.

The team pushes each other to get better and help them reach their goals. The team can thank each other for working hard at every meet to get the most wins they can.

“I think a lot of the runners are dedicated and really want to get faster and do their best in every meet,” said junior Anahid Jerikian

Since the school joined a new conference last year, the competition is still new and different.

“I think the talent and hard work of teams from the teams in our new conference has challenged everyone in the conference,” said head coach Anthony DeStephano.

Coach DeStephano has high hopes for the team to make it in conference, but to achieve them the girls need to push and pace themselves at all the practices to reach success.

“We should give it our all and run on the weekends for extra help,” Jerikian said.

Although the team does well and they are all getting along, they have things that they
could work on to be more successful.

“I think more focus could help the team. I think right now we can be distracted and not focus on the goal at hand,” DeStephano said.

Overall, the team has improved in just a month. They’ve won a few meets and came in first against Lakes High School.
