Students travel to Quebec over summer

Students interested in French culture went to Quebec in June to explore a new culture.
The students were given an opportunity to go to many restaurants, new places and experience the new culture of Canada, which was a more accepting and diverse place.
“My favorite part of the trip was experiencing the French culture with my friends, who are also interested in it,” said sophomore Sam Krischak.
Everybody had a good time exploring a culture different from the one they are used to. The teachers also enjoyed spending time with the students who had interest in this culture.
“I love traveling with students because it gives me the opportunity to get to know them much better than in the classroom setting. It also gives students the exposure to the French culture and teaches them how to appreciate and respect all cultures,” French teacher Dorota Trybula said.
Students learned many new things and took away important things from this trip doing things like seeing Cirque de Soleil and seeing different museums such as Musée de la Civilisation.
“I took away strong friendships and knowledge on a different culture,” said senior Kate Kerpan.
This trip was important because not only does it test knowledge students learned throughout the year, but they also gained friendships and traveling experience.
“What I took away from the trip is that there are so many cultures and different experiences all around you, and all you have to do is go out and explore them. You never know what aspects of what cultures will interest you; you have to explore and educate yourself about all kinds of people,” Krischak said.
