Seniors honored at Awards Night 2017

On May 16, the Class of 2017 held its annual Senior Honor Awards Night, recognizing and certifying outstanding students.

The night consisted of scholarships, awards and certificates of honor being awarded to students. Senior Abby Tischler was awarded with a Cum Laude.

“I have worked very hard over the last four years, and I have dedicated most of my time to school and volunteering. I have a high GPA, [I] play varsity girls golf and I [accumulated] 100 service hours in my high school career,” Tischler said.

Senior Iraitza Torres was awarded with the State Seal of Biliteracy Award and was very pleased to receive it as a result of her hard work over the years.

“I focused on what I wanted to be as far as a career and focused on my achievements and studies around [it] so it could help me along the way,” Torres said.

As seniors are preparing to graduate and enter the real world, they share out their tips to underclassmen in order to be successful and recognized for their hard work.

“Time management! Use your time wisely and build a good work ethic as well as a good rapport with your teachers, deans, and counselors,” Tischler said.

Being involved and setting priorities has helped students be the best version of themselves.

“Focus on your school work but get involved and have fun with the activities,” Torres.
