Senior competes at State for gymnastics

Senior Danny O’Donnell recently competed for gymnastics sectionals at Palatine High School.

He competed in all-around, rings, and high bar. He received third place in high bar, fifth place on rings, and fifth place in all-around.

“Overall, I did pretty well. I had a few mistakes the first day but came back and did much better the second day. I was close on all my events, but did not receive a medal,” O’Donnell said.

On May 12, Danny competed in the all-around portion for State at Hinsdale Central High School.

He had taken twenty-sixth place for the all-around competition at State.

“After high school, I will still be doing gymnastics for fun every once in awhile, but not in college and not competitively,” O’Donnell said.

For him, the journey may have ended, but not without many great experiences and memories along the way.

He had achieved his end goal of making it to State and was honored to compete amongst the best in Illinois.

“This journey taught me the value of hard work. I set a goal to make State, and I gave one hundred and ten percent until I made it,” O’Donnell said.

Gymnastics taught him to always have a goal in mind so one can strive to achieve it.
