Boys bowling team competes at Regionals

The Knights fall short of advancing to Sectionals by just thirty pins, as Senior Danny Yates advances as an individual for the third year in a row.

The team fell in 5th place just missing the cut of the top four teams as the Knights fell apart in the second half of the day. They held a fifty pin lead after the third game and could’ve held third place throughout the afternoon, but sadly fell apart and missed placing for Sectionals by just thirty pins as they fell down to 5th place.

Coach Geiger explained to the team before the fourth and fifth game that “Strikes are nice but spares win the games,” Geiger said.

Then it really sunk in that “It really sucks that we couldn’t advance as a team. Over the past 3 years of the program, I felt we had the best chance with this team,” said senior Danny Yates.

It was a tough way to lose and to end the season.

“The way we lost is the worst. We held third all day. Then the last game we fell apart,” said senior Cole Pellegrino.

After the team lost some bright news came that Senior Danny Yates had one of the top scores for the day, and he will be advancing to the Sectional in Vernon Hills next weekend. Although the team did not advance that certainly does not mean this was a waist of a season for the Knights. Only one member of the Varsity roster will be returning, but there is still promise for next year from talent on the lower levels.
