Boys bowling places 14th at Viking Invite

Boys bowling was looking to bring home hardware at the 2016 Viking Invite on Saturday, December 10.

This was the third time Grayslake was represented at this tournament, and from the start, it looked like a promising day for the Knights. Four out of 5 players hit over 200, and the Knights ended up with a game over 1000 pins, which is a good amount to start off the day with.

Team co-captain and senior Danny Yates was interviewed after the tournament. He stated, “As a team, we started off really strong, but we fell off a little bit as the day continued.”

They had a great first three games of getting more than 1000 pins a game, but the end of the day, they started to play a little sloppy and ended with a last game of not even reaching 800.

“I want to maintain a minimum average of 190 through all 6 games,” said junior Kyle Pribiliski,  which he did with two 200s and a trio of 190s and a 180 to cap off the day.

Even though the team was down a good player and co-captain with Cole Pellegrino, because he was re-taking an ACT, they still stood tough and held their ground and took 14th in a 30 team tournament.

Yates also added that his goals for the day were to “bowl as best as I could and make the easy spares I know I can make.” this goal really was achieved as Yates took home a third place medal for high game with a 279 and a 3rd place medal for highest series with an average of 234 through all 6 games.

This tournament really helped put the Knights see the competition they will see on their way to State this year. While only placing 14th here, they hope to clean up their later three games and hopefully make a State run for the whole team.
