How students get over the stress of finals

Around final exam’s time, students may find themselves stressing out, staying up late, and cramming everything the night before.

Knowing how to manage stress can help students to better their exam grades and also keep their bodies healthy.

“Last year, I became way too stressed out about my final exams because I had all borderline grades,” said sophomore Angelina Ambrose.

Having borderline grades can really affect student’s stress level because grades are very dependent on how well they perform on their final.

“Something that stresses me out the most is studying. It is hard to study for everything I learned in the past semester,” Ambrose said.

Learning techniques to help students study and stay focused are key to helping prepare for finals and stay stress free.

“People aren’t used to sustained studying. If they aren’t in the habit of sitting down and forcing themselves to do something they don’t really want to do, it’s hard to suddenly start doing that during finals,” said teacher Chris Kubic

Another way to manage stress is by finding things to enjoy doing.

“I try to take pleasure in the joyful moments such as spending time with my family, working out, and reading. Stress relievers are key when trying to manage the daily challenges that my jobs throw at me,” said Knights United sponsor Molly Tomlinson.

Taking care of oneself is also a good way to relieve stress. It also helps students keep a positive attitude.

“I stay stress free by taking time to take care of myself through rest, exercise, and leisure. I also like to surround myself with people who handle stress well and take care of themselves,” Kubic said.

Remembering these techniques are important because they can help students perform well on their finals and can help them stay stress free.
