North to host first playoff game against Lakes

The Knights played against the Antioch Sequoits on October 21, losing a close game, 25-20. The Knights still made it into the playoffs, which will be a home game on October 28th.

Football is a huge part in a high school student’s life. For North, the players aren’t just

teammates, they’re a family. Before the game started, the boys held coach Wood’s hand walking down the field.

“Being a part of the team is great; it’s like having an extra family,” said junior Angel Flores.

In the beginning of the game, the boys had to work hard to get the score closer.

“The best part of the game was Dami’s big run to get us back into the game,” said sophomore Wake Caldero.

Although Grayslake didn’t win against Antioch, they still made it into the playoffs.

“At playoffs, beating Lakes is our number one priority. After that, hopefully we make it the rest of the way,” Flores said.

The players are constantly cheering each other on whether they’re winning or losing. Even when players are injured, they are still there to cheer each other on.

“I’m proud of everyone. Everyone has done their part to make this team great,” Caldero said.

There were many victories this season and some losses, but the players worked hard to get where they are.

“The season was successful despite the team experiencing many injuries to key players, but we also go to see who would step up and take their roles, which drives the passion of our team and that is being a family,” said junior Ryan McCue.

There were many challenges the players faced and yet managed to get through them.

“We weren’t afraid of adversity and took it head on in several games,” McCue said.
