Record breaking season for girls track team

The girls track team started off their season with a handful of broken records.
The team has been to 11 meets so far and have six more left in the season including IHSA Track & Field Sectionals and State.
“We are having our best season in school history. We have broken eight out of the 19 school records already. We broke seven records throughout the whole season last year,” Wolter said.
The girls constantly are practicing every week to prepare them for the 2016 State competition.
“We usually have 2-3 meets a week. Some of them are really close, like Grayslake Central, and others are an hour and a half away, like Sycamore,” said junior Jacque Garza.
There are plenty of girls who achieve top placements at past meets.
“Oftentimes Kennedy Krieg does extraordinarily well in both shot put and discus. Amelia Robinson, Caroline, Valery Zamora, and Jacque Garza place well in mid-distance/distance events,” said junior Sierra Herrington.
In preparation of Sectionals and State coming soon, the leaders of the girls track team really encourage the other teammates to achieve their goals.
“We have a ton of seniors this year who have all stepped up and taken on leadership roles throughout the season. The team named three captains this year – Amelia Robinson, Jacque Garza, and Sierra Herrington,” Wolter said.
