Every year students have the opportunity to express themselves at Muse and Coffee House.

“Last year, we made a community mural.  This year, we made a community sculpture in the style of glass artist Dale Chihuly,” said teacher Susan Foecking.

Muse is ran by the art department. Last year for Muse the students and some teachers made a community mural while this year they do something totally different.

When it comes to Muse, it isn’t always about walking around and looking at art. Muse has all different types of activities going on throughout the whole event.

“In addition to the student art show, there were numerous family activities at Muse, including learning to throw on the potter’s wheel, clay pinch pots, sock puppet making and puppet show, face painting, etc,” said Foecking.

This year’s Coffee House was held in the black box on April 29. Coffee House is an opportunity people get to show of any type of talent they have. This year’s performer Bridget Donnellan sang a song.

“I like the feeling of accomplishment I get after a performance because I always put in a little bit of time to practice before each one,” Donnellan said.

Coffee House gives an opportunity for students to come out of their shells and to show off some talent that have have that no one’s possibly seen before.

“I didn’t so much feel nervous inside, but I was trembling terribly what I was up. I didn’t so much care because I was showing off my work,” said Abby Ecklund.

This year’s coffee house was a big success with the amount of people who came to either watch or perform.

“Having such a wide variety of kids come out and do something artistic and i also saw a lot of students who are in some of my classes who wouldn’t normally put themselves out there kind of take a risk and go on stage and do something impressive for their peers,” said teacher Stephanie Church.
