Tarzan: The Musical

Starting November 6th, the Green Room Theater Company will be performing North’s first ever musical, Tarzan.
Green Room Theater will be performing Tarzan this year. The first showing of the musical will be on November 6th.

It also runs on the 7th and 8th, and the next weekend on the 12th, 13th, and 14th. A musical has never been performed at North before.

“As our first musical here at North, we wanted to pick something that we could really transform the black box theater with and invite audience members of all ages to enjoy,” said director Clare McConville.

This year, instead of a joint musical with Central, the students will get to see a musical here at their own school.

“We are doing the show in the black box because we don’t have our own auditorium like Central,” said Cher Schwartz, the choreographer for the show. “It was decided we would have separate musicals, therefore North’s [will be in] our only theater, the black box.”

The musical has had a lot of work put into it over the summer, but there is still a lot of work to be done. The acting, dancing, and singing will be practiced, and the sets and effects will be put together for the show as well.

Musicals are also a way students can show off their talent and hard work to their friends and family.

“The students can see their peers on stage and see what they’ve created,” said the fine arts department chair Mark Lard..

Some star roles in the play are Tarzan, played by Kyle Fisher, and Jane, played by Amy Cappelli.

“Tarzan has already been such a fun and challenging show, both physically and mentally,” Fisher said.

The theater company is looking forward to putting on more shows this year.
