Substitute teacher makes appearance on Family Feud

Chris Blevins, a substitute teacher at North, and his family were featured on Family Feud winning over $40,000 throughout three shows on February 6, 9 and 10.

The Blevins family consisted of Chris, his brothers Tyler and Jon, Chris’ sister-in-law Jodi, and her brother-in-law Cody Meetz.

They had no idea they would make it on the show but were optimistic.

“It was my younger brother Tyler’s idea to try out for the show,” Blevins said.
It is a long process to try out and be considered to be on the show in Atlanta, Georgia.

“Normally, families have to go to the studio. There are a bunch of families there, and they get five minutes on camera to audition.

“In our case it was different because we did not know about that, so instead we made an audition video,” Blevins said.

Blevins and his family were invited to fly down to Atlanta in hopes to make it on the show. They were not guaranteed a spot on the show even after being flown down but were given the opportunity.

“I think they liked the video because we staged it to be like an episode on Family Feud,” Blevins said.

Many students tuned in to watch the Blevins compete on the three shows featured on NBC.

“It was cool to see my favorite substitute teacher, Mr. Blevins, on Family Feud. I was really surprised that he was on the show and how well he and his family did on the show,” said junior Brandon Kottmer.

Not many people can say they made it on a game show, and Mr. Blevins basked in the spotlight.

“It was a very surreal experience. You always hear negative things about Hollywood, but Family Feud was different. Everyone, even the other families, were friendly, and it made it fun,” Blevins said.

Mr. Blevins and his family ended up earning $41,000 on the three shows they appeared on.
