Volleyball looks to improve during the off-season

The girls volleyball team
did much better than their record
showed, and coming off
their senior night victory, the
team looked to make a run in
the playoffs.
A disappointing record
of 7-21 doesn’t not show how
well they have played late in
the season. The girls have lost
many close games, including
two close losses to crosstown
rival Grayslake Central.
The girls celebrated senior
night on October 14 with a win
against Woodstock North.
“It was an emotional night
playing my last game here,”
said senior Maggie Fish.
After the game, the ladies
were presented with posters of
themselves and pictures of them
throughout the season. The
team also enjoyed a cake and
other snacks after their victory.
“The season hasn’t gone
how expected, but it was a good
learning experience for us and
our younger players,” said senior
Stefani Keilwitz.
North worked very hard
throughout the season and
have played some very tough
teams throughout the season
including: Grayslake Central
and Prairie Ridge. The girls
looked to win out their last two
games against Prairie Ridge and
McHenry.
“We have been close to
winning many games, and we
were almost there this time,”
said junior Kendall Buchman.
North began their postseason
on October 27. They
played Prospect at Grayslake
Central. After winning the first
game, North lost the next two
in close battles with Prospect.
The girls were eliminated in the
playoffs after a hard season.
“Our goals didn’t work out
exactly how we would have
liked, but it was a good learning
curve for the whole team and
especially our younger players,”
said Maggie Fish.
The girls will look to get
back into next season and make
a run.
