Basketball looks to future

Throughout the season, the basketball team struggled, finishing sub-five hundred, along with a first round exit at Regionals. However, despite the struggles this year, both coaches and players are optimistic for next season.

The boys were close to winning their Regionals opener, but fell short in the end, losing by only two points.

“Obviously we are always disappointed when the season comes to an end.  Despite being the lower seed, our exit did seem a little premature since we seemed to be in control of that game from the very start,” said head coach Todd Grunloh.

They may have had an early exit, but that should only fuel them to go further next year.

“My expectations are that we get back above .500 next year. We plan to play in the spring and lift as a team after school,” said sophomore forward Aidan Einloth.

They were also competing  better in more games towards

the end of the season, and that should give them momentum into next year.

“I’m looking forward to next season because we really improved as a team this year from start to finish, and I’m excited to see that growth continue,” Grunloh said.

Also, despite losing five seniors off of the thirteen man roster, they will not be lacking any offensive firepower next season.

“Another exciting part about the future is that four of our top five leading scorers will be back next season: sophomore Aidan Einloth, junior Dom DiProva, sophomore Bobby Krebs, and junior Lucas Buckels,”Grunloh added.

With this, the team is looking forward to contend in the post season next year.

“I expect us to perform better because we have a lot of underclassmen on varsity who are experienced now. On the same note, since we have had a year together, we are more cohesive as a unit,” said junior guard Lucas Buckels.
