The volleyball team plays defense against Zion-Benton.

The girls varsity volleyball team took home a win in their volleyball game against Zion-Benton High School. The girls won the game 2-0 after a last serve from senior Emily Porter.

While playing, the volleyball players felt they had good energy throughout the game. The volleyball players had a crowd of people cheering them on and were glad that they were there.

“It was good to have supporters like football,” said junior volleyball player Tess Buckley.

The volleyball team won the game against Zion-Benton with a 10 point difference (25-15) in the second set. Since the first volleyball game, Coach Jim Sarver feels that the team has improved on their defense and played better as a team.

”The game was nice and clean, dominated from beginning to end,” Coach Sarver said.

A little earlier in the game, when it was 21-14, it was Zion-Benton’s ball and almost every girl on GNHS side of the court hit the ball and successfully made the point. After that, they came together into a hut of hugs, showing that there is indeed sportsmanship within the team.
