The Wauconda Cross Country Invite was held at Wauconda Middle school on Sep 11, 2021, Grayslake’s varsity team placed 5th with 106 points. Grayslake North had six people race: Jared Hughes with a time of 22:00; Osualdo Gomez, 22:02; Max Krieger, 22:39; Nicholas Von Briesen with a time of 19.58; Owen Davies with a time of 17:59; and Armani Diaz with a time of 17.21.

“I did a lot better at pacing my first mile. It was around 6:50,” senior Max Krieger said.

Krieger thinks he could have done a lot better and that he could have done his second mile faster, but he’s happy with his performance.

Aiden MacLennan, a runner on JV, said that he went too fast in the beginning and this made him tired and he found it hard to keep a good pace.

“I feel like even though I burned out, I tried to keep a good pace,” MacLennan said. MacLennan  ran 3.1 miles in 24:30 and Anthony from JV ran it in 23:20

Max Krieger set a new personal record on this course with a time of 22:39. From watching Max run, he was very focused while running, not even looking when people cheered for him.

“The quicker you run, the quicker you’re done,” Krieger said.

“I had a 7 minute first mile, and I tried keeping that pace the whole time,”  said senior Anthony Morris.
