Grayslake North suffered a close-fought loss to Grayslake Central in the classic crosstown classic on September 10, 2021.

The Rams left the Knights chasing the whole game on Friday eventually winning the game 28 – 25. The Rams started the lead early, and although the Knights had some good flashes, the Rams were consistent and kept their lead the whole game.

Some of the reasons for their loss have been reported as Central having a strong game plan to deal with North’s attack.

“Central had a good game plan going into the game with blitzing 7 defenders. This made it hard for Jacob Donahue to get a clean pass in the pocket without getting hit,” said senior Jacob Marshall.

Grayslake North also had many injured players going into the game against rival Grayslake Central.

“Our injured players definitely played a role because one of our best defenders, Scott Wilson, is out for the rest of the year. Also Josh Real, again one of our best players, was suffering a minor knee injury during the game,” Marshall said.

Some people felt the referee left a lot of controversy on the field calling calls that some fans, players and coaches didn’t agree with.

“Overall, I think the ref called a pretty good game except for when I ran a route,” said senior Nathan Atwell.
