Football ends successful season
With a new coach, the football team completes its first season with a 5-2 record
The football season started with the game against Round Lake where they won 55-14.
Grayslake North’s football season was a rollercoaster, going 4-1 the week before the Central game was supposed to happen.
Unfortunately, that game had to be canceled because of COVID issues.
“Our biggest opponent, just like every year, was Antioch,” said senior Jack Sisson.
Dimitri Cannon agreed with Sisson. “Our biggest opponent is Antioch and Lakes every year,” Cannon said.
The Knights were questioning how this season would go, as this year, the team hired a new head coach.
“At the beginning of the year, we were struggling offensively. Learning a completely new playbook was tough, but we eventually came around and had some very solid games offensively. Defensively, we were solid all around, strong linebackers and very quick safeties. We tied for second in the conference with Wauconda, who was the only conference team we didn’t play this year,” Sisson said.
The addition of the new coach and new star quarterback, sophomore Jacob Donohue, helped Grayslake North play at top tier level.
“Jacob Donohue, our sophomore quarterback, really showed out this year. I’m pretty positive he was player of the week for weeks one and two. I’m not sure how many touchdowns he finished with, but his most impressive game was putting up seven touchdowns against Round Lake,” Sisson said.
The team finished the season with a record of 5-2.
