In the market for a bike? The Trek Roscoe 7 is a great choice for anyone who rides a bike.

The Roscoe 7 is possibly the best bike in the $1200-$1500 price range.

The Roscoe 7 is between the lower-end Roscoe 6 and higher-end Roscoe 8.  While offering much greater performance benefits than the 6, it is very comparable to the 8 while being $500 less expensive.  The Roscoe line utilizes 27.5×2.8” tires which offer tons of grip and are really fast rolling. The Roscoe also has 120mm of front lockable suspension and none in the back.  The bike comes with a dropper post and a 1×12 drivetrain.

The bike’s closest competitors from other big name brands are the Specialized Fuse, Diamondback Sync’r, and the Giant Fathom. All of these bikes use similar components manufactured by different brands but cost much more money than the Roscoe.

The Roscoe uses a Sram Eagle SX drivetrain and a RockShox drivetrain, and the competitors use a Shimano drivetrain and either a SR Suntour suspension or a Fox 32 system.

While the SX drivetrain may not be as reliable as a Shimano Deore, it can be upgraded to a Sram NX or GX shifter and derailleur for less than the difference in price between the bikes. The lower price of the Roscoe means that you will have lots of leftover money to add modifications to improve the Roscoe even further past the competitors.

The Roscoe 7 is a very enjoyable bike to ride because it is very playful on the trail, is very lightweight, and so far has been very reliable.  I did have one issue with the shifter, but I was able to fix the problem by myself in about twenty minutes using basic tools. The suspension is air sprung and very plush.  The dropper post is very handy for quickly moving your seat out of the way on the trail.  The 27.5+ size tires offer more grip than ever needed. I am able to ride on the icy snow without slipping, and the dirt is a breeze.

After one week of ownership, I will highly recommend the Roscoe 7. With a final score of 9/10, I would recommend this bike to any of my close friends or family members. Always do your own research and buy a bike that will suit your riding best. Do not lie to yourself to justify buying a bike that is both out of your price range or not suitable to your riding style.
