Review: “The Spy Next Door”
About 10 years ago, a movie named “The Spy Next Door” hit theaters full of comedy and action. It is about a struggling mother who tries to raise her kids alone, and then along comes this spy to the rescue.
This is an incredible movie to watch, and it is also very fun.
Produced by Robert Simonds, Bob Ho is an operative of the CIA as an undercover agent on loan from Chinese Intelligence. He decides to retire after putting Russian terrorist Anton Poldark behind bars and marrying his longtime girlfriend, Gillian.
One day, Gillian leaves to visit her father in a hospital in Denver, Colorado, and leaves Bob to take care of her children, Farren and Ian. However, they despite Bob and plot to get rid of him. Using some technology from the CIA, Bob is able to take control and gradually bonds with the children. His partner, Colton James, informs him that Poldark has escaped prison and they suspect there is a mole in the CIA. Colton sends a file to Bob’s computer for a top-secret formula for an oil-eating bacteria Poldark is working on. While snooping around Bob’s house, Ian downloads the file, which he mistakes for music, onto his iPod. Poldark discovers the download and sends some of his henchmen to Bob’s house, but Bob overpowers them.
A retired CIA agent redeems himself and his new step-children while saving the world, which is such a hero vibe.
Along with the plot and character choice, this film is enjoyable. Overall, this film is a 10/10 recommendation to everyone who likes family-friendly hero movies.
