Review: “War for the Planet of the Apes”
Matt Reeves follows the excellent sequel “Dawn of the Planet of Apes” with this incredible heart warming movie, “War for the Planet of the Apes.”
This one is all based on a three-year-old boy who climbed into a gorilla enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden and was grabbed and dragged by Harambe, a 17-year-old western lowland gorilla. Fearing for the boy’s life, a zoo worker shot and killed Harambe. The incident was recorded on video and received broad international coverage and commentary, including the controversy over the choice to use lethal force. A number of primatologists and conservationists wrote later that the zoo had no other choice under the circumstances, and that it highlighted the danger of zoo animals near humans and the need for better standards of care.
I personally feel that this movie sets up a satirical comment on our human society where we are jealous, envious and are more concerned with ourselves rather than the whole community. This made us start killing our own human people when they are infected for our own survival. It shows us a mirror to our own selves that apes were more human than us when it comes to humanity.
