During this very difficult time for families in and around the Grayslake area district, North is helping feed any family that comes in for food.

“These meals are handed out every day of the week. We do not run the program on the weekends,” said Principal Jim Roscoe.

 The school is also working with a food pantry in Avon.

 “We have been in contact with the Avon Food Pantry and have been working closely with them.  We are currently running a food drive (all items can be dropped off at the main entrance) and donating all items to the Avon Food Pantry.  We are also directing any cash donations to Avon as well,” Roscoe said. 

The school continues to work with the Avon Food Pantry and help families in need as best they can. Some food pantries around here are Avon Community Food Pantry, Lord of Glory Lutheran Church, Round Lake Beach Church of God, and Warren Township Food Pantry. 

“Every day except the weekend anyone can drive up and get food. It’s the food service staff Aramark. The same people who make lunches (for the school) normally,” said Donna Keesling, the food service director of Aramark. 

Anyone can drive up to the front doors of Grayslake North at any time from the hours of 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. 

“They are serving chicken patties, corn dogs, chicken nuggets, uncrustables, and sandwiches. For breakfast they are serving things like cereal, and french toast sticks. With those meals they are doing apples, oranges, twisted fries, and carrots, along with apple juice and milk,” Keesling said. 

When people pull up they will hand out a bag with both breakfast and lunch in it. More information can be found on the school website, District 127.
