NLCC hosts Buddy Ballers Tournament
Buddy Ballers gathered Special Olympic teams from the Northern Lake County Conference, including teams from Lakes, Antioch, Wauconda, Round Lake, and Grayslake Central and North, for the NLCC Tournament.
Each team played 10 minute games spanning from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with awards at 7:30 p.m. The North Knights had scored many points throughout the games and won a few times. Although they technically won, the atmosphere of the event was about supporting all teams and individuals.
The teams all had members from their respective schools in attendance cheering on the game.
“We just get to cheer each other on,” said superfan Evelyn Hauer.
All members of the team were able to make big contributions to the game, especially when against Antioch.
“I think our team has been passing the ball a lot, and all the other teams are doing a good job,” according to Kate Farrell, a team leader for the Special Olympics team.
