“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” was the last movie of the third trilogy. This trilogy started with “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” where The First Order has taken over the galaxy, and is trying to end the resistance. The main character, Rey, is a scavenger living on the planet Jakku. Resistance fighter, Poe Dameron, has found a map to Luke Skywalker and is trying to get it back to the resistance. He was captured by Kylo Ren, the commander of The First Order, but luckily he gave the map to a BB-8 droid who was left on Jakku.
Trapped on Kylo Ren’s command shuttle, a rogue stormtrooper helped Poe escape on a TIE Fighter. After fleeing back to Jakku, retrieving the droid, and reconnecting with Poe at the planet Takodana, and later destroying the Starkiller Base, Rey went to find Luke, finding him at the first Jedi temple.
The second movie, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” Rey has discovered a power inside her and convinces Luke to train her in the Jedi ways while the resistance is being chased through the galaxy by The First Order. After Rey finally finishes her training, she helps the resistance escape, but Luke’s help through the force ends his life and makes Rey the last Jedi alive.
This leads us into “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” where Kylo Ren has found the legendary planet Exegol, the land of the Sith that can only be found with a Sith wayfinder. Kylo Ren goes to Exegol to kill Emperor Palpatine who is rumored to be alive in hiding. Instead of killing the Emperor, Kylo Ren joins him on his plan to end the resistance with The Final Order and taking over the galaxy once and for all.
The movie is riddled with amazing and unexpected events, and it was by far one of the greatest Star Wars movies, second only to “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.”
