Volleyball finished their season with a new record of 25-13 after winning Regionals and qualifying for Sectionals for the first time in school history. To get to Regionals, the team placed second at their hosted Conference tournament, higher than they have ever placed.
“In the past we haven’t done very well at this tournament. I felt like we had to push that out of our mind and just play like we knew how to play, and we worked hard on every single match,” said junior varsity player Jessica Pozezinski.

One of the reasons for the team’s success is teamwork and how well they play together. This year the volleyball team has 17 members.
“The season is going great. We are really working together and breaking records,” said head varsity coach Jim Sarver.
The team agrees that having such a big team has helped them this season. A large number of returning players helped the chemistry on the team.
“We have been successful this year because of the diverse skills everyone brings to the court. Also many of us have played together for a very long time and have formed a connection that allows us to play together on the court,” said team captain senior Alexandra Baker.
After the first game, the team officially broke the old season’s record.
“Breaking the new record at the tournament really fueled us and kept us energized and wanting to keep pushing through and raising the record higher and higher,” Baker said.
The team made it to the finals and lost to Deerfield, a team that they had previously beat in pool play.
“I think that we put ourselves in the position to win we just got tired out. We’re going to have to give credit to Deerfield, I thought they played really well,” Sarver said.
