Winter Gala raises money for charity
The 2019 Winter Gala was able to raise money for the American Cancer Society through fundraising.
North’s Student Council held a penny war in order to raise money for charity, while also asking for donations.
“As a district, we raised $1,400 for the American Cancer Society. That included Penny Wars, donations, and a portion of ticket sales,” said Student Council sponsor Jacqueline Boratyn.
Both North and Central held events prior to the Gala that involved students to get school spirit.
“Others chose not to attend the dance but did get involved with events leading up to the dance. Feed My Starving Children, Trivia Night, Penny Wars, and Kahoot were all a huge success,” Boratyn said.
Students were able to request music and become involved in the planning process. They could plan events and decorations.
“We worked alongside Grayslake Central Student Council to create ideas and bring them to life! Many of our decorations for the dance were hand made by students in both councils! We started working on the Gala right after Winter Break, and are so happy about how it turned out,” Boratyn said.
