Girls basketball finishes season strong
The girls basketball team worked together to have a fun and successful season this year.
“Our team was able to learn how work well with one another as the season progressed, and we grew to work together as a unit,” said senior Sarah Rauch.
Even through some of the toughest games, the team kept trying.
“The girls worked hard each day at practice and never hung their heads when things didn’t go our way,” said coach Robert Nicoletti.
They had productive practices and knew they had to work hard if they wanted to win.
“My team goal for the season was to play like a team most importantly. The score didn’t matter to me. If we had a good time on the court and we all came together and contributed, the outcome is irrelevant,” said senior Molly Rutkowski.
The Antioch game was the team’s favorite game.
“Our best game this season would have to be the second time we played Antioch. The first time we traveled to their place, they smoked us! But, we all wanted the next time we played them to be different. The day of the game we were all nervous, as we did not want the same outcome of the last matchup. Also, it was our senior night, which made us want the win even more. The first quarter of the game, we were on fire. We consistently held the lead, which was huge for us. We ended up getting a win, and all of the hard work paid off,” Rutkowski said.
The team finished with a record of 12-17, their final game being the second round of Regionals against Lake Forest.
