First ever district dance is organized
Grayslake North and Grayslake Central’s Student Councils planned out together the annual Winter Gala for Feb 24, 2018, for the whole district.
“[This year] the Winter Gala is at Grayslake Central. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the dance is from 7 to 10 p.m,” said activities director Molly Tomlinson.
The Winter Gala was organized at a certain level with help from both Grayslake Central and Grayslake North.
“Last year, Grayslake Central hosted the Winter Gala for the first year, in which a few North students attended. Grayslake North decided to collaborate with Central to provide this experience for the entire school district. The goal is to have students voice their desires for the dance which has involved voting for the charity– Save A Pet– being honored in the auction. So far, we have been contacting various businesses asking for donation prizes, and we have contacted Boom Entertainment. There will be food at the Gala, which those details are still being determined. Student Council has been putting in an immense amount of effort, and we are excited to see the turnout for the event,” said English teacher Grisel Monarrez.
Many people have different opinions on the dance, whether they enjoy it or what they like about it.
“[What I like about the dance is] the very idea of bringing food, dance, and an auction together for high school students is fantastic! I just hope that everyone who attends enjoys their experience,” Monarrez said.
The Winter Gala is right around the corner, and Student Council, teachers, and students that will attend are excited for it.
“[What I am excited for is] that I am looking forward to our first-ever district dance!” Tomlinson said.
